OSHA’s Electronic Recordkeeping Opens Next Week!

7.jpgRegardless of industry or NAICS code, if your establishment has 250+ employees, you must submit OSHA recordkeeping electronically.

8.jpgIf you have 20-249 employees at your establishment, you’ll need to compare your NAICS code to OSHA’s list.

If you don’t know your NAICS code, go here. Then compare to OSHA’s list here.

If you’re on that list and have 20-249 employees, you must submit OSHA recordkeeping electronically. Most of my clients are included on this list, a sampling of my clients’ NAICS codes is below:

Construction related companies: prefix of 213, 236, 237, 238.

For the 2016 recordkeeping year, info from your 2016 Form 300A must be submitted by December 1, 2017, and your 2017 Form 300A by July 1, 2018. Beginning in 2019 and every year thereafter, the information must be submitted by March 2.

OSHA’s online recordkeeping site is slated to officially open on August 1, 2017, and can be found here.

There are three ways to submit data:

  1. Manually enter the data.
  2. Upload a CSV file.
  3. Some automated recordkeeping systems may be able to export the info via an API (application programming interface)
