WISE Administrator’s Message – October 2018

(From 10/31/2018)

Hello WISE members!
It is still technically October for about 20 more minutes in Minneapolis, MN and I wanted to provide an update on everything WISE was up to this month before moving on to November.

In last month’s message, I was reminding you to participate in the #excellenceinWISE initiative as WISE was still in the running to win the ASSP Communities Launch contest. Guess what? We won! Thank you to everyone who participated during the 13 weeks of summer and early fall to get the word out about WISE and ASSP.
13 winners were chosen among all that used the hashtag on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram –
Lindsay K Bell
Tamara Rodriguez‍
Wendy Delmater Thies
Joanna Pina‍
Julie M. Dickson Anderson
Martha Logiudice Wik
Stephanie Neary‍
Christine Steman
Amy Parent
ASSP Kittyhawk
Debra Murphy Fisher‍
Stefanie Rife Corbitt
Joann M. Robertson

Congratulations to the #excellenceinWISE contest winners and you will be contacted for your mailing address to receive a WISE logo tote bag and WISE logo name tag!

The inaugural Women’s Workplace Safety Summit occurred earlier this week, and it was a success! Three work groups focused on topics that were chosen through a rigorous WISE Advisory Committee meeting earlier this year. Those topics were workplace violence, PPE fit, and barriers to women’s advancement in OS&H leadership roles. A press release from the event provides more detail and can be shared with your network and employer as you see fit:

Look for more official information from ASSP in the coming weeks and months. WISE is extremely grateful to Amazon for their support of the inaugural Summit. If your company would like to get involved for future events, please contact me.

There will be many opportunities for WISE members to be involved with the Women’s Workplace Safety Summit and future working groups. You can start now by adding your story, concerns, and successes to the discussion threads in the WISE group on the Communities platform. Publications, resources, and other work product are forthcoming, as well as follow-up calls and collaboration driven by the work groups and ASSP.
