September 21, 2020 Safety News

Today’s Safety News is based on a request from the VPPPA Network of Women (NOW) to discuss how I’ve improved my public speaking. Check out the VPPPA NOW group on Facebook and learn more about the VPPPA at www.vpppa.org

I’m still thinking about last week’s Safety Justice League episodes on Snake Plissken and with guest Sharon Lipinski of Habit Mastery Consulting.

This Friday’s new SJL episode is with Risk Talk founders David Press and Stuart Farquharson. Their app is unique yet it makes you wonder how it’s not widely adopted yet!

Last week’s episode with Subena Colligan was just the amount of zen I needed during a week away from the Safety News!

This week’s episode is our interview with Barbie the Welder!! It drops on Friday, not for sensitive ears, like for real – a LOT of f bombs as we spoke with Barbie while she was in her workshop.

The SJL has a lot planned for this week, Safe + Sound Week. Find my LinkedIn for more information on the SAFE2SAVE challenge for distracted driving and other ideas for this week.

If you make a splash with safety this week, get on the news! Here’s an oldie but goodie blog post on how to get your organization’s safety efforts in your local media.

The SJL is proud to have the ability to give back! 15% of sales from our TR4D1NG P05T go towards a charity of our choice. Recently, it was the International Justice Mission, our new charity pick is the Fire Department Coffee Foundation. Check out the organizations and go shopping to support them!

With COVID forcing organizations and individuals to scramble to be relevant in the virtual world, many rushed into apps and software that wasn’t the right fit. I revisited my “app or crap?” evaluation method for this week’s news, also, learn how to provide a review for the Safety Justice League podcasts here.

July 6, 2020 Safety News

Today’s safety news is a COVID remix… we’ve been saying the same stuff for over 3 months, but it’s not being “heard.” You’ve got to say it a different way! OSHA has a nice FAQ page, and CDC has some amazing industry-specific info. What do you notice about the two sources? They’re text only! It is your responsibility as the safety pro to take this info and make it “yours” as in for your workers… Use photos, video, and props to make the information come alive. This is advice you should heed for any other type of training, but this week’s news is on conveying COVID info in a better way to your workforce. Have a safe week!
